Divine Translations

No, it’s not difficult to write poems about a poet. Just like how…sometimes a picture shows what words can not, sometimes examples describe what descriptions can not. Here is an example of Lauren’s mastery of feelings and…words.

Al’s text message to !@/&

“Thank you for giving me a reason to destroy you. Clearly you do not know that my friends and family consist of everyone from judges to shamans to murders. That’s quite alright, I should not have to tell you what company I keep in order for you to act right. Since you want to disrespect me in your blatant acts of racism, nepotism, and asswholery to my face…omg to my mother fucking face though, I have no choice but to help you. That’s right! I’m going to help you by making this the last day that you can, and will, ever try to get over on a black woman in your pathetic, sad, embarrassing little “life.” Your welcome 🙏🏿 🖕🏿❤️

Lauren’s edited version of Al’s text

“Good evening Mr. !@/&,

I regret having to message you at this late hour; however, there have been severe infractions in both the spirit and stated rules of the union which need to be addressed as soon as possible. Please call me tomorrow to discuss 1) why/how I was skipped on the call list and the most recent job was given to an apprentice who was lower on the list and lacking the necessary credentials (which I possess) for the job 2) what could be done to remedy the situation and 3) how to avoid a repeat of this issue. Thank you for your time, Al”

Grace + patience = one of the many corners of Lauren that save me everyday. Oh if everyone would think before they speak in the thoughtful way that she does, then I would not need my rage to be translated by such a poet 🤷🏿‍♀️
